Award winning speaker, writer, youth advocate.

Yasmin developed a strong sense of justice at a young age. After growing up in a low income family in country Victoria, she was instilled with the desire to stand up for the disadvantaged and create a fairer Australia. Yasmin began her journey at 17 years old volunteering for several youth led NGOs. Through this experience, she realised the power of youth voice.

Described as a ‘human megaphone for Gen Z’, Yasmin's work has included being the Chair of the Victorian Government's Youth Congress, representing over a million young Australians. She also led the global business development of 180 Degrees Consulting, a youth led social impact consultancy that spans across 30 countries. She has represented Australian youth in conferences such as APEC and the UN Commission on the Status of Women.

She is currently Plan International’s Youth Ambassador, focusing on engaging young Australian women in politics.

Yasmin has been a panellist on shows such as Q&A and the Drum, with a focus on how we can include youth in the conversation to create change.

In 2019, Yasmin was the youngest member of the Australian Financial Review 100 Women of Influence and Top 40 Under 40 Most Influential Asian Australians. She was also named ANU's 2020 Undergraduate Volunteer of the Year.

Yasmin's fresh and forward thinking take on leadership has led to her MC'ing and speaking at a number of high level conferences, appearing alongside figures like Jeffrey Sachs and Gillian Triggs. Yasmin has previously spoken about gender equality, how to future proof Australia and thinking like a global citizen. She has also facilitated government level workshops for young people.

Yasmin has advised numerous organisations on improving community engagement and accessibility for young people. Past organisations include Department of Premier & Cabinet, the Red Cross and Equality Rights Alliance. She also has strong institutional knowledge through previous work in government, NGOs and think tanks.

Yasmin has established herself as an articulate speaker on youth engagement in government and politics. Using her wide experience in youth issues, she has frequently appeared on ABC as a youth representative, debating prominent political issues with MPs and Senators.

The feedback from our First National members regarding your speech was absolutely incredible. The attention you commanded from everyone in the room, without even trying, was amazing – and if you were trying, you did it effortlessly.

I have already heard talk of getting you back for other First National events and I couldn’t be more thrilled.

Q&A 2020

‘Yasmin is a powerful and passionate speaker. We had the pleasure of having Yasmin give a keynote address and facilitate a Q & A session for the inaugural Parliament of Victoria’s ‘WE Lead’, young women’s leadership, forum. She provided a youthful and genuine insight into her leadership journey as an aspiring young woman and woman of colour. Her message resonated with everyone in the audience, from her inspired peers to the staff and parliamentarians present.’

I am writing to thank you once again on behalf of YWCA Canberra for facilitating an authentic, interesting, at times devastating but overall extremely important conversation.

Your ability to create such a candid yet meaningful conversation is an absolute testament to your skills! I had a lot of attendees let me know this was their favourite In-Conversation event this year.
